In the Kostanay Region, three criminal police officers have been detained on suspicion of accepting a bribe. The case is being investigated under an article with aggravating circumstances, which carries serious criminal liability.
WHAT HAPPENED
According to TobolInfo, the detention was confirmed by the Police Department (PD) of the Kostanay Region.
According to the department, on 17 March 2026, officers from the Anti-Corruption Service of the Department of the National Security Committee (NSC) of the Kostanay Region, together with the Internal Security Directorate of the Kostanay Region Police Department, carried out the detention of three officers from the criminal police unit of the city of Rudny.
WHAT MEASURES HAVE BEEN TAKEN
A pre-trial investigation is being conducted under Part 3 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Acceptance of a bribe").
With the sanction of the Specialised Investigative Court of the city of Kostanay, a measure of restraint in the form of detention has been selected for the suspects.
WHAT THE SUSPECTS FACE
Part 3 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan provides for liability for accepting a bribe under aggravating circumstances, including by a group of persons or on a large scale.
The sanction of the article includes a fine of 60 to 70 times the amount of the bribe, or imprisonment for a term of 7 to 12 years with confiscation of property and a lifelong ban from holding certain positions.
