A court in the Almaty Region has considered a case of the systematic harassment of a woman via phone calls, messaging apps and bank transfers containing messages. The court classified the man's actions as stalking and imposed a penalty of arrest for a period of 25 days.
HOW THE HARASSMENT DEVELOPED
The court established that the defendant, a man, had systematically harassed the victim against her will from September 2025.
He repeatedly called her and sent messages via the messaging apps WhatsApp and Telegram. After his contact was blocked, the man continued his attempts to establish contact by other means.
According to the case materials, he used the Kaspi.kz application: he transferred small sums of money to the victim and included text messages in the comments attached to the transfers. The court noted that such actions were persistent and repeated in nature.
CONSEQUENCES FOR THE VICTIM
According to the court, due to the systematic harassment, the woman experienced anxiety and fear. Her sleep was disturbed, which caused significant harm to her mental state and disrupted her normal way of life.
The materials state that the man's actions were aimed at establishing contact against the victim's will and were not accompanied by violence.
COURT DECISION
The court found the defendant guilty under Article 115-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Stalking").
Following the consideration of the case, the court imposed a penalty of arrest for a period of 25 days.
The verdict has not entered into legal force.
It will be recalled that on 6 February, in the Mangystau Region, two cases of stalking were recorded. Former female acquaintances of the men continued to receive calls, messages and visits despite prohibitions. An investigation has been launched into both incidents, and one of the men has been placed in a police detention centre.
Earlier, on 3 December, in Semey, the first verdict in a case of stalking was handed down — in that instance, a local resident had for a long time monitored the victim's private life, unlawfully intruded into her personal space and exerted psychological pressure.
