All 58 pupils of the Republican Physics and Mathematics School (RPMS) who were hospitalised with symptoms of an intestinal infection have been discharged from hospital. The children received the necessary treatment.
WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE CHILDREN'S CONDITION
According to the Almaty City Children's Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital, 58 schoolchildren were admitted to the inpatient facility from 12 October 2026. Doctors provided them with the necessary medical care and carried out treatment in accordance with clinical protocols.
As of 22 October, all the children have been discharged from the inpatient facility.
WHAT HAPPENED AT THE RPMS
Earlier, the FBRK reported a mass outbreak of illness among pupils of the RPMS in Almaty. It was initially reported that 47 schoolchildren with symptoms of an acute intestinal infection had been hospitalised. Another eight boarders were isolated and placed under medical observation.
After the cases of illness were identified, the operation of the school, the boarding house and the food service unit was temporarily suspended by order of the Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control.
Specialists began an inspection and took samples for laboratory testing in order to establish the cause of the mass outbreak.
