In Astana, they plan to build 10 healthcare facilities over the next three years, including perinatal centres, a hospital, polyclinics and ambulance substations. Already by the end of 2026, the city authorities intend to open a new admissions and diagnostic complex and a children's trauma centre.

WHICH MEDICAL FACILITIES WILL OPEN IN 2026

Astana Akim Zhenis Kassymbek announced the development of the capital's medical infrastructure on his Instagram page. Together with First Deputy Prime Minister Nurlybek Nalibayev and Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Akmaral Alnazarova, he visited a number of medical institutions.

According to the akim, by the end of the year it is planned to open an admissions and diagnostic complex at City Multidisciplinary Hospital No. 2.

The five-storey building with an area of 7,120 m² is designed for 700–900 visits per day. It will house admissions departments for adults and pregnant women, diagnostic services, a trauma centre, operating theatres, a stroke centre and intensive care.

The complex will be equipped with CT and MRI scanners and X-ray equipment. The opening will also create 50 jobs.

Another facility is a new extension to Multidisciplinary City Children's Hospital No. 2. It will be equipped with a resuscitation room, an operating block and diagnostic rooms for providing emergency care to children with injuries.

WHERE NEW HOSPITALS AND PERINATAL CENTRES WILL APPEAR

In 2027, a perinatal centre with 250 beds is planned to open in the Saryarka district.

The construction of another major facility — a multidisciplinary city hospital with 300 beds — is intended to be completed in 2029.

In total, according to the published plans, the construction of 10 medical facilities is envisaged in the capital over the next three years:

  • 2 perinatal centres;
  • 1 multidisciplinary hospital;
  • 5 polyclinics;
  • 2 ambulance substations.

IN WHICH DISTRICTS POLYCLINICS WILL BE BUILT

The expansion of the polyclinic network has also been included in the city authorities' plans.

At the end of 2026, construction is scheduled to begin on a polyclinic in the Yesil district with 500 visits per shift.

In 2027, construction is planned to begin on two more polyclinics in the Saraishyk and Nura districts. Each will be designed for 500 visits per shift.

WHICH MEDICAL INSTITUTIONS HAVE ALREADY OPENED

Kassymbek also reported that in 2025, a children's trauma centre for residents of the Yesil and Nura districts was opened at the National Coordination Centre for Emergency Medicine.

During its operation, more than 10,000 children have received medical care there. According to the akim, this has helped reduce the burden on the children's trauma centre on the right bank.

In addition, last year, a polyclinic was opened in the area of the Nurly Zhol railway station through private investment.

The city authorities link the further expansion of medical infrastructure to the growth of Astana's population and the increasing burden on existing institutions.
