After five days of repair work, a new stretch of asphalt approximately 50 metres long has appeared on the bridge at the Petropavlovsk hydroelectric complex. At the same time, the approaches to the structure and the main part of the road on the dam remain covered in deep potholes.
WHAT WAS REPAIRED AT THE HYDROELECTRIC COMPLEX
According to the Telegram channel «HALYQSTAN», before work began, the bridge at the Petropavlovsk hydroelectric complex was completely closed for routine repairs to the road surface. Cars and lorries were diverted around the site via the city and suburban routes.
After the five days of work were completed, drivers saw a short section of fresh asphalt around 50 metres long. The other long-standing potholes on the road remain.
WHY DRIVERS EXPECTED A LARGER SCOPE OF WORK
The condition of the road at the hydroelectric complex had previously caused discontent among motorists. Because of the deep holes, drivers were forced to slow down and negotiate the section carefully to avoid damaging their vehicles.
Drivers had expected that, after the bridge was fully closed, the road surface would be put in order over a longer stretch. However, immediately after the end of the new asphalt, vehicles once again hit the damaged part of the road.
