The decline in coal production and a surge in its prices have been recorded in Kazakhstan.

Coal mining in Kazakhstan has been declining for the second consecutive year. In 2024, the volume of extraction amounted to 112.6 million tonnes, which is 3.2% lower than in 2023. The previous year, experts noted a reduction of 1.4%.

Initially, the land plot near the settlement of Koyandy was indivisible and intended for agricultural production. However, over four years, the plot was transformed into ten separate plots of varying purposes, including a landfill, which raises questions about the legality of changing the designated land use and the procedure for their division.
