An incident involving industrial explosives occurred at the mine of JSC «Sokolov-Sarbai Mining and Processing Production Association» (SSGPO) in the Kostanay region. An employee with many years of experience was injured during work to clear an accumulation of ore.
WHAT HAPPENED
The Corporate Communications Service of JSC «SSGPO» reported to journalists that the incident occurred on 5 January in an underground mine working at the «Sokolovskaya» mine.
A 55-year-old scraper winch operator, with a total of 25 years of experience, was carrying out work to clear a blockage of large pieces of ore in an ore pass — an underground excavation used for lowering extracted raw materials.
The work was carried out using industrial explosives. During the operation, an uncontrolled explosion occurred, as a result of which the worker sustained an injury.
CONDITION OF THE INJURED PERSON AND FURTHER ACTION
