In Balkhash, during the construction of a road bridge being carried out by ТОО «Теміржол жөндеу», a concrete beam fell onto the railway tracks. Workers were injured - one of them is in intensive care.
According to Informburo.kz, the company's press service reported that the incident occurred during construction and installation work.
"A beam fractured and subsequently fell onto the railway track. There are no fatalities. Injured workers have been hospitalised at Balkhash station hospital," the statement said.
The Karaganda region health department reported that one of the injured is in the intensive care unit and is receiving necessary medical care. Three other workers refused hospitalisation and were transferred to outpatient treatment at their place of residence.
The regional police department stated that a criminal case has been opened regarding the violation of occupational safety rules.
"Necessary investigative actions are being carried out at the scene, and the causes and circumstances of the incident are being established. No further information is subject to disclosure," the department noted.
It has become known that ТОО «Теміржол жөндеу» is a specialised enterprise for the construction and major repair of railways and highways, as well as associated infrastructure facilities. Incidentally, the company is part of the Қамқор Менеджмент holding group, in which businessman Timur Kulibayev holds shares through ТОО «Кипрос».
