A sentence has been handed down in Temirtau in a case concerning harm to a child's health.

According to the press service of the Karaganda region courts, a woman, noticing her child arguing with another boy on a playground, grabbed the latter by his clothing and struck him in the face. As a result, the child suffered a concussion, a haematoma and abrasions.

In court, she pleaded guilty. Her actions were confirmed by CCTV footage, witness testimony, and an expert report.

Ultimately, the court sentenced the woman to 6 months' restriction of liberty with probation supervision. Additionally, 100,000 tenge was awarded to the victim as compensation for moral harm.

While the article provides for a stricter penalty — up to 2 years' imprisonment — the court took into account the positive references for the convicted woman and the fact that it was her first offence.

Recall that earlier, at the republican August conference of educators, it was reported that the country's first department for the protection of children's rights had been established in the Aktobe region. It was noted that the project would be implemented jointly with the Commissioner for Children's Rights and gradually rolled out across all regions of the country.
