The Supreme Audit Chamber (SAC) has identified the inefficient use of budget funds in the modernisation of heat and water supply and wastewater systems. Following a directive from the agency, 84.4 million tenge were saved and additional unjustified expenses were prevented.
According to the SAC press service, in 2023-2024, analytical services totalling over 207 million tenge were paid for from the state budget as part of expenditures on an authorised agent.
As auditors determined, these services fall within the remit of the Committee for Construction and Housing and Utilities Affairs and JSC 'Kazakhstan Centre for the Modernisation and Development of Housing and Utilities'.
"In compliance with the SAC's instruction, when forming expenditures from the republican budget for the modernisation of heat, water supply and wastewater systems from 2025, funding for the said services has been excluded", the statement reads.
As a result of the budget adjustment for 2024, 84.4 million tenge were returned to the state treasury.
Recall that earlier, Mazhilis deputy Murat Abenov accused the SAC, led by Alikhan Smailov, of concealing the embezzlement of 73 billion tenge at Nazarbayev University. According to him, the SAC is hiding details of a previously conducted audit, preventing deputies from examining the reasons for the illegal spending of budget funds.
