At the 56th kilometre of the Ust-Kamenogorsk – Altai highway in the East Kazakhstan region, the road has been washed away.

According to Informburo.kz, traffic on this section has been closed to all types of motor vehicles.

"Patrol police crews are working at the scene, ensuring road safety as well as public order," the regional police department reported.

JSC "NC "KazAvtoZhol" stated that a collapse of part of the road and asphalt surface had occurred on the highway.

The road has been closed to all types of motor vehicles on the section from Ust-Kamenogorsk – Altai – Ulken Naryn – Katon – Karagai – Rakhmanovskie Klyuchi, 6-166 km.

Residents and guests of the region are asked to observe safety precautions.

Earlier, the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Nurzhan Nurzhigitov, declared the "effectiveness" of the Tasqyn flood forecasting system, but facts and flood statistics refute the official's bold claims: in several regions (North Kazakhstan, Aktobe, Kostanay, Akmola regions) serious flooding continues, roads are washed away, populated areas are inundated, and transport links are disrupted.
