The Prosecutor's Office of Aksu, Pavlodar Region, identified a case of illegal acquisition of 24 flats intended for socially vulnerable citizens. At the time of purchase, the premises were in an unfinished state and were not ready for habitation.

According to the department's press service, the actions of the former head of the city construction department caused the state losses of over 50 million tenge.

The Aksu Inter-District Court sentenced him to two years' imprisonment for abuse of official powers resulting in grave consequences. The sentence has not yet come into legal force.

Following the prosecutor's oversight, the violations were rectified, and those on the waiting list were provided with housing.

Recall that earlier in the Akmola Region, an investigation was completed into a case of embezzlement of budget funds allocated for the implementation of the housing construction programme "Nurly Zher", aimed at reducing the queue among socially vulnerable categories of citizens.

It was reported that over three years, a contractor, with the assistance of the head of the construction department, submitted fictitious certificates of completed works with inflated volumes and costs, although in fact part of the work was not carried out. As a result, the state suffered losses amounting to 152 million tenge.
