An investigation into the embezzlement of budget funds allocated for the implementation of the "Nurly Zher" housing construction programme, aimed at reducing the waiting list for socially vulnerable categories of citizens, has been completed in the Akmola Region.

According to the press service of the Financial Monitoring Agency (FMA), in 2020 the regional construction department and NIK Engineering Group IV LLP entered into a contract for construction work worth more than 500 million tenge.

The investigation established that over three years, the contractor, with the assistance of the head of the construction department, provided fictitious certificates of work completed, inflating the volumes and costs, while in fact part of the work was not carried out. As a result, the state suffered damage amounting to 152 million tenge.

By court decision, property belonging to the accused worth over 100 million tenge was seized.

A measure of restraint in the form of detention was chosen for the contractor. The criminal case has been sent to court.

Recall that earlier the Prosecutor's Office of the Karaganda Region reported (https://t.me/fund_anticorr/9510) on the restoration of the rights of citizens who had been waiting for housing for a long time. As a result of inspections, 298 apartments were transferred to socially vulnerable categories, including 82 apartments for orphaned children.
