On the outskirts of Talgar, the body of the uncle of the murdered Sherzat Polat was found. According to preliminary information, he died by suicide through hanging.
As reported by the police department of the Almaty region, law enforcement officers have opened a criminal case.
"Investigative actions are currently underway to establish all the circumstances. At this stage of the investigation, no signs of a criminal nature have been established", the statement says.
It is noted that Sherzat's family, who died in October, had been under police protection the entire time.
"No threats to the deceased's family have been recorded during this entire time. From the explanations of the officers providing protection, it was established that the man left the protected facility at 11:30 PM and drove away in his personal vehicle", the police reported.
Let us recall that on 4 October, a mass brawl occurred near one of the shops in Talgar, during which 16-year-old Sherzat Polat died from a knife wound, and two other people sustained bodily injuries.
On the night of 12 October, the house of the deceased teenager's family burned down. Immediately after this incident, law enforcement officers set up an operational headquarters, and the family was placed under protection. A canister and gloves were found at the scene of the arson. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that 11 people are being investigated as suspects in the case of Sherzat's murder.
