The education department of the Atyrau region has commented on the news that a school built under the state programme in the city of Kulsary, Zhylyoi district has been left without an owner and is in a state of disrepair.
According to the department, the building was constructed in 2009. Until 2016, it was used as school-gymnasium No. 24, then it was reclassified as a Kazakh-Turkish Lyceum (KTZ) and used as a dormitory.
"In 2019, after receiving a conclusion on the need for major repairs and the allocation of funds, construction work to restore the facility was started. In 2021, on the recommendation of the prosecutor's office, the work was suspended indefinitely. Procedures are currently underway to resume the repair work," the statement said.
The reasons for the prosecutor's office's intervention in the process of restoring the school have not been reported. After the completion of the legal proceedings, the renovation of the building is planned to be finished and the building used for its intended purpose.
Earlier, it was reported that the educational institution in the city of Kulsary was put into operation in 2009, but the building is now empty and falling apart before everyone's eyes. The reason why the school building has been standing idle has not been reported.
