A company from the group Freedom Holding Corp. of entrepreneur Timur Turlov has acquired the Karaganda football club "Shakhter" at auction.
According to the press service of the Karaganda Region Akimat, the region, together with Turlov, plans to allocate 18.5 billion tenge for the development of a new football ecosystem. Of this amount, 12 billion tenge is earmarked for the construction of the Shakhter football academy, and a further 6.5 billion tenge for the development of youth and mass football in the region.
It is reported that with the support of Turlov, who is president of the Karaganda Regional Football Association (QOFA), several major projects will be implemented in the region.
These include the school project ALGA!, the official youth league Freedom BFL, the construction of a modern Shakhter football academy, and a comprehensive regional development strategy.
According to preliminary data, the academy will be located on a site of almost 10 hectares. The project includes a stadium, an indoor arena for year-round training, a full-size training pitch, a two-storey administrative and amenity complex, a medical centre, a swimming pool, a sauna, a canteen and accommodation for students.
Main construction and installation work on the facility is expected to be completed in 2027.
Earlier, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov reported that the process of privatising football clubs and their infrastructure is in an active phase.
JSC "Kaspi Group" intends to acquire FC "Zhenis" and develop football infrastructure in Astana. Furthermore, the ministry is negotiating with investors regarding the clubs "Taraz", "Yelimay" and "Irtysh".
At the end of October, it became known that FC "Kaisar" was bought by entrepreneur Islamgali Kozbakov, owner of "TAU Group LTD", "Alem Stroy" and a concrete plant.
In November, an agreement was signed in Petropavl on the transfer of the sports brand, infrastructure and assets of FC "Kyzyl-Zhar" to one of the co-owners of JSC "Central Asian Electric Power Corporation", Sergey Kan.
Later, it was reported that the owner of "Qazaq Stroy" Nurlan Artykbayev became an investor in football club "Aktobe".
