In the Atyrau region, three people have died as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning. The tragedy occurred in a private house in the village of Tomarly, and the relevant services are investigating the causes of the incident.

According to the press service of Centralmedia24.kz, the incident took place on 28 December at around 14:00.

At the time of the incident, there were three people in the house: a married couple born in 1958 and a man born in 1953. All died at the scene.

"The circumstances of the incident are being clarified," the statement said.

According to preliminary data, the cause of the tragedy may have been a lack of draught in the gas-fired heating stove. Specialists will reach final conclusions after carrying out the necessary checks and expert examinations.

Another incident related to carbon monoxide poisoning occurred in the Abai district of Shymkent. As reported, as a result of a gas equipment malfunction, eight members of one family were affected.

According to available information, the case occurred the day before. Rescuers, as well as employees of the city's environmental control department, were called to the scene. The victims were taken to a medical facility.

"According to preliminary assessments, the cause of the poisoning was non-compliance with chimney safety requirements," the department reported.

According to medics, all victims received assistance. Doctors assess their condition as satisfactory, and all are under medical supervision.

In connection with the incidents that have occurred, rescuers remind of the need for regular checks of gas equipment, proper installation and maintenance of chimneys, as well as the conclusion of contracts for technical maintenance with specialised organisations.

The Emergency Situations Department emphasises that carbon monoxide has no colour or smell, which is why poisoning occurs unnoticed and often leads to serious consequences, including deaths.
