On 31 December, a gas-air mixture explosion occurred in a two-storey private house in Taldykorgan, causing a fire. Two people died as a result of the incident, and five were injured. Another patient with burns to 38-40% of their body is in intensive care.

According to Press.kz, citing the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the explosion led to the collapse of the building's second floor, part of the walls and the roof.

Representatives of the company "QazaqGaz Aimaq" said that after receiving notification of the incident, an emergency team was dispatched to the scene, which shut off the gas supply.

During a survey of the area, specialists discovered signs of gas contamination in the wells of adjacent water supply and sewage systems.

To determine the source of the gas leak, the company carried out a drilling inspection along the private underground medium-pressure gas pipeline and two underground low-pressure gas pipelines operated by "QazaqGaz Aimaq".

It is noted that analysis of samples from the boreholes indicated a high concentration of gas, pointing to an underground leak.

"Specialists from our company's gas network operation and repair service, in accordance with safety instructions, conducted a tightness check of the underground low-pressure gas pipelines. According to the results of official inspections, the gas networks we maintain have no gas leaks and are functioning properly," the statement read.
