In the West Kazakhstan Region this year, plans are in place to vaccinate 11 million head of livestock against 12 particularly dangerous diseases. This was announced by the head of the veterinary department of the West Kazakhstan Region, Abzal Braliev, during a briefing at the regional communications service.

According to the Kazinform news agency «, 7.8 million doses of preparations have already been delivered to the region. Livestock are planned to be vaccinated against anthrax and foot-and-mouth disease; vaccination against other diseases will depend on the incidence rate. Additionally, a diagnostic examination of 2.2 million animals will be carried out.

It has become known that since the beginning of the year, 4.75 million animals have been vaccinated in the West Kazakhstan Region, which constitutes 100% of the plan for the first half of the year.

Special attention is paid to brucellosis. According to Braliev, based on diagnostic results, the disease was detected in 3,215 (0.7%) out of 444,400 head of cattle. Among 686,700 small ruminants, 649 (0.1%) were infected.

"Animals infected with brucellosis are sent to 8 slaughter points under contract. Compared to 2020, a decrease in the incidence of brucellosis has been observed recently. However, there is still a lot of work to be done," said the head of the department.

As noted, since the beginning of the year, three cases of rabies have been recorded among cattle in the West Kazakhstan Region — two in the Bisen district of the Bokeyorda region and one at the Saykudyk wintering site in the Kaztalovka region. Comprehensive veterinary measures have been carried out in the outbreak areas. Braliev noted that the epizootic situation in the region remains stable.
