In the East Kazakhstan region, outbreaks of brucellosis and rabies have been registered.

As reported by YK-news.kz citing the regional veterinary department, 10 outbreaks of particularly dangerous diseases among farm animals were recorded in East Kazakhstan last year: 6 cases of rabies, 3 of brucellosis, and one of emphysematous carbuncle (blackleg).

It is noted that measures are currently underway in the village of Terektybulak in the Kurchum district to eliminate brucellosis in cattle.

Furthermore, in the Tarbagatai district, authorised bodies continue to work on eliminating the rabies outbreak. The measures are expected to be completed this month.

Meanwhile, it has become known that around 2 billion tenge has been allocated for the implementation of veterinary measures in East Kazakhstan in 2025.

Recall that in November 2024, a livestock market in Atyrau was closed for quarantine after anthrax bacteria were found in the carcass of a dead animal.

On 12 November, one of the market workers noticed a suspicious cow carcass that had been brought from the West Kazakhstan region. It was only after four days that veterinary services took tissue samples and sent them for laboratory testing. The market was then officially placed under quarantine. On 25 November, a cutaneous form of the disease was confirmed in a market worker.

On 11 February 2025, a quarantine was declared in the Karabalyk district of the Kostanay region after brucellosis was detected in several dozen animals. The regional veterinary department stated that the restrictive measures would last for up to 20 days.
