The Prosecutor's Office of the Zhambyl Region has uncovered the embezzlement of 25.5 million tenge intended for the training of specialists in technical and vocational education.
According to the department's press service, the management of "College No. 15 at the Correctional Institution" of the regional education department had illegally received funding for three years for the education of convicts who did not actually attend classes.
A pre-trial investigation under paragraph 2, part 4, article 189 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Appropriation or embezzlement of entrusted foreign property") was assigned to the Department of Economic Investigations for the Zhambyl Region at the beginning of February.
Previously, in the Ili District of the Almaty Region, a sentence was handed down (https://t.me/fund_anticorr/8628) to the head of the district education department and seven accountants. They were found guilty of embezzling 686 million tenge by transferring salaries to individuals who were not actually working in the education sector.
