A resident of the village of Bala Bi in the Shieli district of the Kyzylorda region ended up in intensive care after an attack by her husband, who works as a biology teacher at a local school. The man attempted to kill her with an axe.

According to Ulysmedia.kz, another domestic conflict occurred between the spouses, which escalated into an attack. The woman sustained severe injuries to her head, hands, and shoulder.

The victim was urgently hospitalised in the district hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery. Doctors currently assess her condition as extremely serious.

It has emerged that the family has five children, the eldest of whom is studying at university. The man has over 20 years of teaching experience. According to neighbours, the woman periodically went to Astana, where she worked as a dishwasher in a cafe.

Fellow villagers claim that the couple regularly argued and that the victim was planning to file for divorce.

"I am a close relative of this family and know them well. Indeed, we saw their quarrels, but we did not think it would end so horribly. The man prayed namaz and was a very religious person. The children are currently with relatives; they themselves are still in shock," said a resident of the village.

Police confirmed that the suspect was apprehended hot on his trail. He has been placed in a temporary detention facility.

"A criminal case has been opened for attempted murder. The suspect is in custody and is being held in a temporary detention centre. The investigation is ongoing," police reported.

The administration of the school where the suspect taught declined to comment officially. One of his colleagues stated that the man was considered a calm and balanced teacher.

"He worked at this school for about 20 years, teaching biology. He was always a balanced and calm person. He gave up being a form tutor because he cared for his children. His wife regularly went away to earn money. We can hardly believe that he could commit such a cruel crime," the school employee noted.
