The 22-year-old son of Bolat Nazarbayev and Maira Kurmangaliyeva - Khanbolat Nazarbayev has been fined for illegally building a shopping and entertainment centre on Tauelsizdik Avenue in Astana. Previously, a hotel with a restaurant was located on this site.
According to "Nege.Aqsha", the plot of land was transferred to Khanbolat Nazarbayev in February 2020 under a gift deed, apparently as a birthday present. He demolished the complex and began constructing a shopping centre in its place without the relevant permission or prior notice.
As a result, for violations of land legislation and laws on architectural, urban planning and construction activities, the younger Nazarbayev was fined 103,500 tenge and ordered to remove the illegal structure.
For context, it was previously reported that another son of Bolat Nazarbayev - Nurbol Nazarbayev is engaged in a legal dispute with the Department for Land Resource Management (DLRM) over land plots on the Ushkonyr Plateau. The prosecutor's office identified violations committed during the allocation of these lands in the Karasai District of the Almaty Region.
