Lawyers for Aliya Nazarbayeva applied to the court to hold businessmen Medgat Kaliyev and Nurlan Bimurzin liable for defamation, but the court dismissed the case due to the absence of corpus delicti.
According to media reports, the ex-president's daughter Aliya Nazarbayeva lost a court case against Kazakh businessmen who accused her of a corporate raid.
In February, Kaliyev and Bimurzin reported that they had been victims of a corporate raid by Aliya Nazarbayeva and the wife of the former chairman of the Constitutional Council, Valentina Rogova.
According to Bimurzin, Nazarbayeva seized an existing business valued at $170 million (according to 2003 estimates), comprising seven oil depots and 96 petrol stations.
It was reported that the police initially refused to initiate a criminal case regarding the corporate raid. However, the prosecutor's office overturned the law enforcement decision and referred the case materials to the Department of Economic Investigations.
