According to media reports, the ex-president's daughter Aliya Nazarbayeva lost a court case against Kazakh businessmen who accused her of a corporate raid

In February, Kaliyev and Bimurzin reported that they had been victims of a corporate raid by Aliya Nazarbayeva and the wife of the former chairman of the Constitutional Council, Valentina Rogova

According to Bimurzin, Nazarbayeva seized an existing business valued at $170 million (according to 2003 estimates), comprising seven oil depots and 96 petrol stations

It was reported that the police initially refused to initiate a criminal case regarding the corporate raid. However, the prosecutor's office overturned the law enforcement decision and referred the case materials to the Department of Economic Investigations.
