In Almaty, six 12-year-old students from grammar school No. 199 were taken to hospital after using a stage smoke machine at a school event. Doctors assess their condition as moderate and are providing treatment.
Use of Equipment and Consequences
According to Cmn.kz, during a cultural event, a teacher used a stage smoke machine, after which several students experienced coughing and watery eyes. Six children were taken to the Almaty Centre for Emergency Paediatric Care and subsequently hospitalised in the toxicology department.
MEASURES TAKEN BY THE SCHOOL AND AUTHORITIES
The teacher responsible for using the equipment has been subjected to disciplinary action. The grammar school has strengthened control over compliance with safety requirements when holding mass events.
LABORATORY TESTS AND FURTHER ACTION
“The National Centre of Expertise has taken air samples for laboratory testing. The results of the tests will be announced separately,” said the press service of the Almaty City Akimat.
