Second case of children being injured in a social services centre in Kostanay in three months

Submitted by Вера Александрова on

In the night of 28 June, a 9-year-old boy was brought to Kostanay Regional Hospital with a closed displaced fracture of the middle third of his collarbone. The child lives in a Centre for Special Social Services and suffers from autism and delayed mental development.

According to the Telegram channel "HALYQSTAN", CCTV footage allegedly shows that at the time of the incident a nursing assistant was with the child, who twice took the boy from the ward to the toilet.

According to the employee herself, she wanted to remove the child's nappy and send him to the playroom so that his cries would not wake the other children. The nurse claims that in the toilet the boy "suddenly sat down on the floor and hurt his arm", after which an ambulance was called to the scene.

The moment of the injury is not captured on the video footage, as there are no cameras installed in the toilet areas. The incident was registered with the police.

The situation raises serious concerns, given that this is not the first case of potentially harmful actions being used in this institution.

It will be recalled that in April, at the Centre for Special Social Services in Kostanay, a caregiver burned a 16-year-old girl with a hot iron during a conflict. The incident occurred in the presence of other staff members at the institution. The victim is a teenage girl with a psychoneurological diagnosis.
