In the village of Sharbulak in the Kazygurt district of the Turkestan region, not all children had enough space in classrooms, so some are now studying in the corridor.
According to Informburo.kz, teachers have even set up several makeshift "classrooms".
Half of the school building has been declared unsafe, and in the other half, more than a thousand pupils are now studying in three shifts.
"Five district mayors have come and gone, five or six village mayors as well. It's been dragging on since then. The children are sitting on top of each other at school", complained local resident Zhunissek Kuranbekov.
It is reported that because the corridor and assembly hall have been turned into classrooms, pupils have no space to stretch their legs during breaks, so they have to be taken outside.
"Because of the large number of pupils, we didn't know where to put them. Our corridors are big, so we decided to open these classes; we're not going to teach the children outside. Currently, six classes are studying in classrooms opened in the corridor", explained the deputy head of pastoral care at the secondary school, Mukhitjan Batyirbek.
In response, the chief specialist of the Kazygurt district education department, Amirkhan Mamytbayev assured that construction of a new school would begin shortly.
"In 2021, an expert review of the design and cost documentation was carried out. It was 1 billion 600 million tenge. But after it was transferred to the region, the regional construction authority made changes again. These passed expert review in 2023. The current tender price is 1 billion 965 million tenge", the statement reads.
According to the plan, the old school will be demolished, and the new one will be commissioned in 2025.
Earlier this month, it became known that children from the village of Aktogan in the Merke district of the Zhambyl region are forced to study in the House of Culture due to the unfinished construction of a school. The building currently houses 600 schoolchildren.
The so-called "classrooms" are separated by a curtain, and the staff use the stairwell as a staff room.
Meanwhile, it was reported that in the village of Novonezhinka in the Auliekol district of the Kostanay region, schoolchildren are forced to study in a partially renovated building. Only four classrooms are ready in the building, where lessons are held for middle school pupils.
Senior pupils are taught in the local wrestling hall, and first-graders in the kindergarten. It is reported that Novonezhinka Secondary School has just over 300 pupils.
Incidentally, the day after the media publication, it was reported that a wall had collapsed at Novonezhinka School. According to the akimat, no children or staff were in the building at the time, and no one was injured.
