A scandal has erupted in Almaty over the inheritance of a pensioner, Margarita Zhilinskaya. After the woman was diagnosed with dementia, a social worker was assigned to her, to whom she transferred all her property and soon passed away.

According to Ratel.kz, in February 2021 the district akimat appointed Gulsim Satybaldy as Zhilinskaya's social worker. The pensioner's relatives claim that after the social worker's arrival, communication with Margarita Zhilinskaya ceased.

In April of the same year, the elderly woman was hospitalised, and after her discharge on 14 May, she made a will in favour of Gulsim Satybaldy, bequeathing her an apartment, three land plots worth a total of 250 million tenge and all the savings held in four bank accounts. Nine days later, Margarita Zhilinskaya died.

In 2022, the deceased's sister, a group one disabled person Svetlana Babakova, challenged the will in court. The Medeu District Court, having reviewed the results of a posthumous psychological and psychiatric examination, declared the will invalid, establishing that the pensioner could not have been aware of her actions at the time it was made.

Despite the court decision coming into force, Gulsim Satybaldy is in no hurry to vacate the apartment. According to the pensioner's relatives, enforcement of the court decision is being delayed due to procedural irregularities in the preparation of the writ of execution.

It is noted that Svetlana Babakova intends to appeal to the President to restore justice.
