The specialised environmental protection prosecutor's office of the Turkestan region conducted a raid to identify and suppress illegal subsoil use.
According to the press service of the department, using an unmanned aerial vehicle, the extraction of common mineral resources — sand and gravel mixture (SGM) — was recorded in violation of the integrity of the subsoil along the Kursai River in the Sauran district.
According to representatives of the prosecutor's office, illegal extraction of SGM remains one of the reasons for complaints from the public, and also affects the ecological situation and socio-political stability of the region.
Under acts of prosecutorial supervision, the akim of the Shaga rural district, who committed a disciplinary offence, was dismissed from his post. The deputy akim of the district and a number of police officers were brought to disciplinary responsibility.
Recall that earlier in the East Kazakhstan region, a case of unauthorised subsoil use and illegal gold mining at the Kenkarym site in the Samara district was identified.
The suspects, without a licence, mined the precious metal for two years, while illegally altering the course of the Kulynzhon River. The damage to the region's ecology exceeded 82 million tenge.
