Journalists asked the Vice-Minister of Agriculture Amangaliy Berdalin to comment on reports in some media outlets that meat from livestock that died during the floods was allegedly being ground into mince and sold at various outlets and markets.
According to zakon.kz, the Vice-Minister guaranteed that such meat would not end up on the plates of Kazakh citizens.
"There is no such threat, and there cannot be. Veterinary laboratories operating at retail facilities – their role includes inspecting the meat," Berdalin stated.
The Deputy Minister also said there is no reliable information about meat from the dead livestock on Kazakh markets. According to him, after the media reports, department officials visited the locations in question and checked them, but the facts were not confirmed.
It is worth recalling that earlier the Ministry of Agriculture reported that as a result of the floods, 10 anthrax burial sites were submerged nationwide.
However, at the same time, the Telegram channel "Uralsk Week", citing a briefing by the "Central Communications Service," wrote that in the West Kazakhstan Region alone, meltwater flooded 8 livestock burial grounds and 14 anthrax burial sites.
Later, the Ministry of Agriculture stated that as a result of the floods, 12 anthrax burial sites and 8 livestock burial grounds had now been submerged.
