The Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov believes that the local administrations and farmers of the region are to blame for the death of horses in the Ulytau region

According to press.kz, he also stated that at least 360 horses have already died in the region.

"They (the farmers) must be responsible for the upkeep and the procurement of fodder. If there were problems with fodder procurement, they should have turned to the village or district administration," the minister noted.

Aidarbek Saparov stated that last year all regions reported 100% fodder procurement. In addition, he said that 1.4 billion tenge in subsidies had been allocated for their procurement in the Ulytau region.

Recall that earlier, following reports of the mass death of horses in the Ulytau region, employees of the Ministry of Agriculture visited the region for an inspection. Based on the results, ministry workers were unable to identify 67 dead animals, nor establish their owners.

It was also reported that farmers in the Akmola region had pleaded for help to save livestock dying in the steppe and urgently declare a state of emergency. There, horses were dying of starvation right on the winter pastures - anomalous weather had deprived them of the ability to reach the grass beneath the icy snow. According to veterinarians, at least 200 horses died.
