The Almaty Construction Administration has announced a tender for the reconstruction of the building of the Natalia Sats State Academic Russian Theatre for Children and Young People and the construction of an extension.
According to Ratel.kz, applications will be accepted until 8 January. The lot value amounted to 21.7 billion tenge. The reconstruction of the building must be completed within 16 months.
The contractor must hold a permit for Category I construction and installation work and must be a financially stable company with no tax debt.
The tender documentation also included the positive state expert conclusion on the project for the reconstruction of the theatre with the extension from the company "Engineering center ltd".
It is noted that initially, local authorities wanted to carry out cosmetic repairs to the 80-year-old building, which is a listed architectural monument of local significance, but later decided to completely renovate the theatre.
As it became known, in March 2024, as a result of an earthquake in Almaty, the basement areas of the building were damaged, cracks appeared in the walls, and the stage mechanism broke down.
For context, in December 2024, it was reported that plans had been made to allocate 10.6 billion tenge for environmental projects in Almaty. One of the priority areas will be the greening of the city. The corresponding budget project for 2025-2027 is expected to be considered at the upcoming session of the agency.
