For reference: blackleg (emphysematous carbuncle) is an acute infectious disease of cattle (less commonly sheep and goats) causing rapid death of animals.

It will be recalled that in September last year, a quarantine was declared in the rural district named after Martbek Mamrayev, Karkaraly district of the Karaganda region due to livestock deaths. At that time, blackleg (emphysematous carbuncle) was found in the village.

In November, a livestock market in Atyrau was closed under quarantine due to the detection of anthrax in a cow carcass from the West Kazakhstan region. Veterinary services inspected the suspicious carcass four days after its discovery. Later, the cutaneous form of the disease was confirmed in a market worker.

In February of this year, in the Karabalyk district of the Kostanay region, a quarantine was declared after brucellosis was detected in several dozen animals. The regional veterinary department stated that the restrictive measures would last for up to 20 days.
