In Atyrau, a worker at the Asyl-Agro market, where anthrax bacteria were discovered in mid-November, has been confirmed to have the cutaneous form of the disease.

According to the publication Aq Zhaiyk, the patient's condition is currently stable and he is undergoing treatment. No other individuals who came into contact with the contaminated meat have shown signs of the disease.

To control the import of cattle into the Atyrau region, four police and veterinary inspection posts have been set up to check documents confirming vaccination and assess the condition of the animals. Similar measures have also been implemented in slaughterhouses in Atyrau.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that a third cow has died on the market premises. Tissue samples have been sent for laboratory analysis.

As a reminder, the livestock market in Atyrau was closed for quarantine after anthrax bacteria were found in the carcass of a dead animal. On 12 November, one of the market workers noticed a suspicious cow carcass that had been brought from the West Kazakhstan Region. It was only four days later that veterinary services took tissue samples and sent them for laboratory testing. The market was then officially closed for quarantine.
