President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with villagers affected by the floods in Kostanay District, Kostanay Region.
According to the press service of Akorda, first of all he thanked everyone for their civic activity and unity during the natural disaster.
“I came specifically to meet with you. I understand the situation is difficult. All the resources available to the state are being directed towards solving the corresponding task. As president, I see it as my priority task to provide maximum assistance to you, those affected by the floods,” the head of state said.
The president also announced that he had decided to introduce a regime of strict economy in state spending in order to redirect funds to citizens affected by the floods.
“The most important thing is compensation, and it will be paid. Moreover, those who have lost their homes or need repairs will be allocated funds. Those who wish to move into apartments, we will buy and issue apartments. Those who wish to stay in place, but staying in dangerous areas is absolutely not allowed, we will build standard houses for those people. A project for such houses exists. These houses will be built on a mass scale throughout the summer and until winter. I have set the Government the task of launching construction in the coming summer months, as well as autumn, and completely eliminating the consequences of the disaster,” Tokayev noted.
At the same time, the head of state stated that major entrepreneurs would be assigned to each region, and they would also participate in helping the victims.
In conclusion, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced that he would cancel the decision and ban the so-called ‘culling’ of the saiga population, calling them symbols of the Kazakh steppe.
