Minister of Health Akmaral Alnazarova reported to the President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the current state of the industry and the tasks for the upcoming period.
According to the press service of Akorda, the minister stated that by the end of last year, average life expectancy had reached 75.4 years for the first time, which is above the global average.
"In the first half of this year, overall mortality decreased by 3%. Maternal and infant mortality rates in 2024 reached a historic low and continue to decline," the statement said.
The minister noted that measures are being taken in the area of pharmaceutical policy to improve the availability of medicines and strengthen control over their circulation. At the same time, measures to protect medical workers are being strengthened, including tightening legislation and providing rapid assistance in the event of attacks.
From 2026, it is expected that approximately one million people from socially vulnerable groups will be covered by health insurance.
The President instructed that the construction of facilities under the national project 'Modernisation of Rural Healthcare' be completed by the end of the year, the efficiency of the compulsory health insurance system be improved, the development of domestic production of essential medicines be ensured, and work to improve the quality and accessibility of medical care be continued.
