A police officer from the Zhambyl region gave a citizen money to buy synthetic drugs, and then carried out an arrest.
As reported by the Prosecutor General's Office, after the verdict was handed down, the convicted person's lawyer approached the authority. He spoke of a provocation against his client by police officers.
The Prosecutor General's Office established that the police officer had repeatedly engaged in joint drug use with the convicted person.
Having gained his trust, the officer gave him money to buy synthetics, and later initiated investigative operations. The convicted person was arrested while attempting to sell narcotic drugs.
Furthermore, it transpired that the investigator's signature on the order to commence covert investigative actions had been forged.
The highest judicial authority recognised the police officer's provocation and issued a decision to overturn the lower courts, acquitting the convicted person.
At present, the Anti-Corruption Agency is conducting a pre-trial investigation into the police officers.
Recall that in July of this year, amendments to the law "On Civil Service" were published on the "Open NLA" website, concerning the testing of civil servants for professional integrity.
It is expected that the new system will help determine how honestly and fairly an employee performs their professional duties and whether they abuse their official authority.
