The police officer got off with a fine of 9 million tenge for taking a bribe in Kostanay.

A sentence has been handed down in Kostanay to a law enforcement officer. He was found guilty of accepting a bribe.
 
According to the press service of the city court No. 2, in October 2024, the police officer learned about the theft of diesel fuel from locomotives by locomotive crew workers. He then demanded 300,000 tenge from the deputy head of the depot to cover up the crime. 

"B. agreed to pay the bribe, however, realising that A.'s demand was illegal, he filed a statement with the National Security Committee department", the statement says.

In December, the suspect was arrested while receiving the bribe. He fully admitted his guilt and showed remorse for his actions. 
 
The court found the police officer guilty and sentenced him to a fine of 9 million tenge, with a lifetime ban from holding positions in the civil service. The convicted man was also stripped of his rank of police lieutenant.

As previously reported, it became known that from January to July 2024, 95 police officers were convicted in corruption cases. In 80% of cases, sentences for police officers were passed under the articles 'Accepting a bribe' and 'Fraud'.

In August 2024, in the Abay region, a former head and inspector of the Migration Service Department (MSD), as well as a former inspector of the Auezov district police department, were convicted of corruption.

According to the investigation, the head of the department received a bribe from a police officer for a transfer, acting through an intermediary – the MSD inspector. The amount of the bribe was $1,000.

In October, an inspector of the control group for the circulation of civilian and service weapons of the police department of the Maktaaral district of the Turkestan region, Nursultan Aldabergenov, was convicted of repeatedly accepting bribes.

Around the same time, it became known that the deputy head of the district police department of the Zhanibek district, Medet Bisakov, was suspected of fraud. It was reported that he demanded 400,000 tenge from the head of a farming enterprise, promising protection.
