Police in Almaty have identified around 4,000 defects in the road surface and infrastructure elements during inspections of the street and road network.
According to Polisia.kz, since the beginning of the year the police department, together with city services, has conducted more than 2,000 inspections of road sections. Against officials and legal entities, 140 reports were drawn up for a total of 5.5 million tenge, and over 2,000 orders were issued to rectify violations.
According to the department, contractors and responsible parties who have committed violations during road construction and maintenance are being held accountable.
By the end of the year, Almaty plans to build and repair more than 120 km of roads, pavements and cycle paths, as well as to equip bus stops and pedestrian footbridges.
"I want to urge all road users to follow the rules, be attentive and respectful towards each other. Only through joint efforts can we make our roads safe and convenient," said the deputy head of the Administrative Police Department of the Almaty Police Department, Darkhan Kylyshbayev.
It is worth recalling that earlier, the Shu District Court of the Zhambyl Region issued a ruling in the case of unrectified defects on the Merke – Shu – Burylbaytal highway. The contracting organisation was fined 1.9 million tenge for ignoring the order.
