The Almaty Akimat has filed a lawsuit against the contractor that was building the crematorium. As reported by MIA "Kazinform" citing the city's construction department, the contractor failed to complete the work within the set deadline.
"Without an approved acceptance certificate, operation of the facility is not permitted. Consequently, a claim notice was sent to the contractor's address. Due to the expiry of the contract term and the failure to properly fulfil contractual obligations, a lawsuit has been filed against the contractor in the specialised Inter-District Economic Court of Almaty to declare it an unfair participant in public procurement and to recover penalties into the local budget income", the department reported.
Construction of the Almaty crematorium was completed at the end of 2021, and the facility was supposed to be commissioned back in September 2021.
However, the deadlines were postponed several times - first to the end of 2021, then to May 2022, and then to the second quarter of 2023.
