The construction of the new School No. 47 in Pavlodar has again failed to meet the stated deadlines. It will not be possible to complete the work and bring the facility into operation by the end of this year, despite repeated promises from the relevant departments and claims that the construction and installation work is one hundred per cent complete.
According to Kazinform, the school for 600 pupils began construction in 2024 on the site of an existing educational institution — Makpaleev School. As early as April, the construction department assured that the facility would be ready by 1 September of this year.
When it became clear that the deadlines would be missed, the education department announced a new date — the start of the second academic quarter. However, after the autumn holidays, children still have not begun learning in the new building.
"There are some minor shortcomings overall regarding the finishing work, that's all. We periodically go out to check on all this and are working on it. Plus, furniture is currently being arranged. There are no major defects," explained the head of the Pavlodar region construction department, Askar Azhmurat.
At the same time, officials are already admitting that it is impossible to complete the process by the end of this year. They are also not giving any new forecasts regarding the third quarter — the deadlines remain uncertain.
A similar situation is observed with the extension to the school named after Akhmet Baitursynov, where more than 1,700 children are studying, despite the noticeable overcrowding of the Soviet-era building.
Construction of the extension, costing 1.4 billion tenge, began last year with funding from the State Fund for Returned Assets. Officials report that the building is equipped and fully completed, yet the timeline for commissioning also remains unclear.
According to Askar Azhmurat, everything now depends on the submission of technical documentation by utility companies and the signing of declarations of conformity for the completed work. Only after this will the facility be transferred to NCJSC "Government for Citizens" for registration.
Despite claims of one hundred per cent readiness, officials are not prepared to give an exact date when pupils will be able to start lessons in the new premises.
