From 24 November, in the East Kazakhstan, Mangystau, and Turkestan regions, as well as in the Abai and Zhetysu regions, a new procedure for conducting paid quarantine phytosanitary inspections has been introduced in pilot mode. The decision was made taking into account the practices of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, China, Belarus and Russia

According to reports, control points have been designated for the operation of the new mechanism, through which quarantine-regulated products enter the territory of the regions. Laboratory inspections of exported products are carried out in all regions of the country.

“Before implementing the procedure, explanatory meetings were held with participants in foreign trade activities. Specialists from territorial divisions and laboratories underwent the necessary training. Heads of inspections have been instructed to ensure high-quality and timely conduct of inspections,” the statement says.

It is expected that the new procedure will improve the quality of phytosanitary services. Revenue from the provision of services is planned to be directed towards the development of the industry: updating laboratory equipment, strengthening the material and technical base, and improving the qualifications of specialists.

Recall that earlier the Supreme Audit Chamber (SAC) identified violations in the areas of veterinary, phytosanitary and food safety across the country, which led to disciplinary measures against a number of officials and specialists.
