New rules on the border with China are hindering the export of Kazakh grain

Kazakh farmers are unable to export grain due to new rules at the border with China.

According to the Telegram channel "Path to the Truth", China's General Administration of Customs has tightened export controls on grain imports in containers at border stations. The inspection time for such cargo has now increased from 5 to 10 days

Farmers report that this has led to a large queue of containers with grain cargo forming at «Khorgos» station. Some of them have been returned to Kazakh shippers.

It will be recalled that in December last year, dozens of vehicles, including trucks, were idle for more than 11 days at the Nur Zholy customs post, which is located on the border with China. One of the reasons for the delay was cited as the lack of approval for release from the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Incidentally, in May 2023, the FBRK editorial team obtained an interesting analysis of corruption risks in the field of freight transportation between Kazakhstan and China. At the time, it reported on possible schemes whereby resellers of foreign permit forms (FPFs) create groups of shell companies registered under relatives, in order to obtain as many FPFs as possible for subsequent resale to carriers for $500-1000
