The Department of Housing and Communal Services, Passenger Transport and Highways of Ust-Kamenogorsk has announced a tender for the New Year decoration of streets and public spaces. The cost of the work is estimated at 71.5 million tenge — the data was posted on the public procurement portal.

According to MIA "Kazinform", the main Christmas tree will traditionally be installed on Republic Square. Light installations and festive decoration of the fountain will also appear there. Interactive Christmas trees are planned to be placed on Komsomolsky Island and along the Komendantka River. After the holiday period ends, the structures will be dismantled.

This year, new elements will be added — according to the documentation, the contractor must install two light compositions with the numbers '2026'. One will be placed near the House of Friendship, the second in the 19th microdistrict.

Photo zones and light arches are also planned in popular recreation spots for residents. The akimat stated that the decoration must meet modern requirements, ensure safety, and create a festive atmosphere.

Incidentally, last year the New Year decoration cost the city 50 million tenge.

For reference, earlier the Department of Culture of Petropavlovsk requested 2.5 million tenge for the filming and editing of a video about the ceremony of lighting the city's main Christmas tree in celebration of New Year.

The request sparked a heated discussion at a meeting of the city maslikhat. Deputies noted that the estimate presented by the department was clearly inflated.
