The Ministry of Emergency Situations plans to introduce new technologies and strategies to combat wildfires.

According to the government press service, Minister for Emergency Situations Chingis Arinov reported in his address that the ministry has completely overhauled its operational response to fires, focusing on prevention and early detection of hotspots.

“For round-the-clock monitoring of the fire situation, video surveillance systems of the forestries ‘Ertis Ormany’, ‘Burabay’, ‘Semey Ormany’, ‘Medeo’, as well as the Kostanay region, have been connected to the ministry’s Situation Centre. Additionally, the ‘Orman’ and ‘Tabigat’ systems have been integrated. Data on thunderstorm activity and thermal points is simultaneously analysed, with subsequent response to fires”, Arinov noted.

It was also reported that unmanned aerial vehicles are being actively used in the regions for aerial visual reconnaissance.

“These measures are aimed at early detection and timely response to fires, which significantly improves the effectiveness of firefighting”, the minister concluded.

Recall that earlier, following an inspection by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, it became known that Pavlodar, Akmola, and Kostanay regions, as well as the ‘Semey Ormany’ reserve, were not prepared for potential fires.

Later, it was reported that an early fire warning system worth 4.1 billion tenge would not be installed in ‘Semey Ormany’. This decision was made by the Ministry of Ecology at a meeting dedicated to the fire hazard season.
