In the Abai region, a forest fire occurred again in a hard-to-reach swampy area of the «Semey Ormany» nature reserve.

According to the press service of the Forestry and Wildlife Committee, the fire happened 15 km from the village of Borodulikha. An area of 0.22 hectares was affected.

«At 13:21, information was received by the Emergency Control Centre: in the Borodulikha district, 15 km from the village of Borodulikha, on the territory of the Borodulikha branch of the 'Semey Ormany' State Forestry Nature Reserve (Dmitrievskoye forestry, block 148), forest plantations (pine) are burning. A hard-to-reach swampy area», the statement says.

It was also reported that 17 people and 9 units of equipment were deployed to extinguish the fire.

The administration of the Abai region, in turn, stated that the cause of the fire was a dry tree that fell onto a high-voltage power line.

Let us recall that after an inspection by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, it became known that the Pavlodar, Akmola, and Kostanay regions, as well as the «Semey Ormany» reserve, were not prepared for potential fires.

Later, it was reported that an early fire warning system costing 4.1 billion tenge would not be installed in «Semey Ormany».

Incidentally, in June last year, a major fire occurred in the forests of the Abai region, which resulted in the deaths of 14 employees of the «Semey Ormany» forest nature reserve.
