Due to the earthquake in the mountains of Almaty, avalanches have occurred. The avalanches are being observed in the upper reaches of the basins of the Kishi Almaty and Ulken Almaty rivers. According to the MES of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in the basin of the Talgar River, the volume of the avalanches reached up to 300 cubic metres. All avalanches stopped on the mountain slope.

"The moraine lakes are in winter mode, under a cover of snow and ice. No destruction of glaciers or ice on the lake waters has been detected. Water flow rates are within normal limits, with no changes. Snow depth in the highlands is 1 metre or more", the MES noted.

According to the rescuers, they have not recorded any snow avalanches of significant volume.

It should be recalled that a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 5 points occurred in Almaty on 4 March. Residents of the city felt the tremors at 11:22. The epicentre of the earthquake was located 31 km south of Almaty on the territory of Kazakhstan.
