The Department of the Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition (APDC) of Astana audited JSC NC "KazMunayGas" (KMG) for compliance with antimonopoly legislation in 2023.
According to the agency's press service, the audit showed that KMG abused its dominant position by restricting the sale of petroleum products.
"From January to April 2023, the company ignored submitted applications for the sale of petroleum products, and in some cases created discriminatory conditions by reducing the volumes of petroleum products with individual buyers when there was an opportunity to sell petroleum products at the time of the request," the statement said.
Given the above, the APDC initiated administrative proceedings against the national company.
As a result, the specialised inter-district court for administrative offences of Astana held KMG liable and imposed a fine of 539.4 million tenge. It is reported that the fine has been paid in full as of today.
