By 1 November, a large-scale optimisation of the management apparatus will take place in Uzbekistan — the executive branch plans to cut 2,141 official positions.
A corresponding decree by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was published in the national legislative database.
The cuts are linked to the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies and digital solutions in state administration. According to the document, the reductions will affect most of the country's key departments.
The largest number of officials will be cut from the Tax Committee — 498 people, from the Ministry of Water Resources — 224, from the Ministry of Agriculture — 200, and from the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction — 163. In addition, the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change plans to cut 176 staff positions, and the Ministry of Justice — 197.
According to the government, dismissed employees will be able to receive help finding new jobs: the relevant work will be organised by the Ministry of Employment together with the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan.
It will be recalled that earlier, the Samruk-Kazyna fund presented to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev the neural network SKAI (Samruk-Kazyna Artificial Intelligence), which became the first digital independent board member with voting rights in the region.
It was reported that SKAI was created on the basis of artificial intelligence and is intended to increase transparency and the quality of corporate governance.
