Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov has ordered stricter liability for substandard conversion of vehicles to gas.
According to the government press service, the tightening will apply to businesses in particular.
According to the Prime Minister, the number of violations when installing gas cylinder equipment in the country is on the rise. This is because more and more vehicle owners are switching to liquefied petroleum gas as a fuel.
"Such precedents pose a threat to the lives of our citizens. Therefore, I instruct the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Energy to take measures to tighten the liability of businesses for unprofessional conversion of vehicles and the absence of the corresponding mark in the vehicle registration document," Olzhas Bektenov stated during a government meeting.
Furthermore, he noted the need to stimulate the production of alternative fuel - compressed natural gas.
The head of government instructed the Ministry of Energy and the national company QazaqGaz to develop roadmaps for the construction of gas processing plants and the development of new gas fields.
Olzhas Bektenov recalled that at a meeting of the National Kurultai, the President instructed to provide the population with gas and to modernise gas pipelines.
He noted that the Ministry of Energy, together with local executive bodies, has been instructed to ensure the timely disbursement of funds allocated for these purposes by the Samruk-Kazyna fund, amounting to 105 billion tenge.
Work on the construction of networks is planned to be completed by the end of the year. Recall that from 1 July, prices rose for liquefied gas in Kazakhstan. The Ministry of Energy justified this decision by citing increased demand for fuel.
Earlier it was reported that the ban on the export of liquefied petroleum gas, propane and butane by road and rail has been extended by six months.
